This is a beautiful vintage original lacquer Conn-O-Sax. This sax was made by Conn in 1929 and is considered to be one of the rarest and most collectible saxophones ever produced. This particular Conn-O-Sax is truly one of a kind! This is because it has the lady face engraving on the bowl section. As far as we know, this is the only one known in existence with the lady face engraving on the bowl section. There are currently 27 known Conn-O-Saxes and this one will make 28. This is the rarest of the rare.

The original lacquer on this sax is in excellent condition. There are no major dents and very little soldering. It appears that a dent was removed just outside the low F# tone hole, but nothing major. You can see a little lacquer wear in that area. Also, the two octave key guides at the top of the sax were resoldered. Other than that, the sax has very limited wear. Pretty incredible for a 100 year old saxophone. There are a few scratches here and there and some lacquer wear in places. I would say approximately 95% lacquer is remaining. Pads are Conn Reso pads, are original, and are in decent condition. The sax plays and sounds beautiful. Sax has original neck, mouthpiece, and case. There is also a small tag with the serial number and description of the sax that is attached to the case handle. I believe this may be from when it was new before it was originally sold. We are also including a more modern F Mezzo mouthpiece faced by Eric Griffenhagen which plays fantastic!

This saxophone is pitched in the key of F. It has a range from high G down to low A. It also has the nail file G# key. Each high note from high D to high G has a corresponding palm key. The low A key is next to the right hand thumb hook. It is hard to describe how this instrument plays because it is so different from other saxophones. It does have a wonderful sound and a very stable center. It also plays extremely well in tune. The sound, especially down in the lower register, is similar to an english horn or an oboe. Very unique.

This is an absolutely outstanding, super rare, one of a kind original lacquer Conn-O-Sax in excellent condition with all the original accessories. It is one of the rarest finds of it’s kind. As all collectors know, these saxes very seldom come into the market place. This is truly a unique and special instrument.
